Move Like HADO

Your role

Squad Captain / Athletics + Performance

Full body. Full energy. Full commitment.

HADO isn't a sport you watch from a chair. Start with the HADO warm-up: learn it, then film yourself doing it. That's your entry. From there, it's open. Remix it, add to it, or build something original that shows a first-time viewer what it feels like to be in the arena.

  • 1 WARM-UP The HADO routine, on camera
  • 4 MECHANICS To build from

01 / The core routine

Copy the warm-up.

This is the minimum to enter. Solo or squad.

  1. Learn the warm-up. Watch the warm-up video above and learn it move for move.

  2. Film yourself doing it. Record the whole routine, start to finish. Every squad member who performs should be in the frame.

  3. Energy and commitment. A performance, not a demonstration. Go all the way.

Tip:

That video alone is a complete entry. Everything in column 02 is up to you.

02 / Then take it further

Make it yours.

Past the core routine, it's open: remix it, extend it, add dance moves, or build something new. Any style, as long as it reads as HADO. Some places to start:

  1. An opening. 10–15 seconds introducing HADO in your own words.

  2. Your own HADO moves. Pull from the four mechanics below and make them yours.

  3. Dance moves. Add dance to your performance video: choreography, freestyle, any style that brings the energy.

  4. A beginning, middle, end. Make it intentional. Someone should be able to tell where it's going.

  5. A signature closing move. Your squad's own. Perform it together if there's more than one of you.

Tip:

Building your own? Plan it on the Routine Design Sheet below: your inspiration, your structure, your impact.

Four mechanics. Make them yours.

Steal the shapes from the court. Then make them your own.

FREEZE!
  1. Energy Ball

Arm extended, weight forward, explosive release.

  2. Shield

Arm raised, weight back, stance held.

  3. Dodge

Explosive lateral step, low center, quick recovery.

  4. Positioning

Claim space, read your opponent, hold ground.

Let's move

Choose a warm-up.

Option A / Squad

HADO Freeze

Move around the space however you want. Your facilitator calls a stance, and you freeze in it: ENERGY BALL (arm out, weight forward), SHIELD (arm up, weight back), DODGE (one explosive step).

Calls come faster each round. The last to freeze sits out. Go until one is left.

Freeze Caller

  • Energy Ball
  • Shield
  • Dodge

Ready?

Option B / Chain

Signature Move Chain

One person starts with a single one-second move inspired by anything in HADO. The next person copies it and adds one. The next copies both and adds another.

When it gets too long to remember, start fresh. The longest chain wins.

Routine Design Sheet

Taking it further than the HADO warm-up? Answer these three questions before you choreograph anything. Your answers are your creative brief. They keep your routine focused and intentional.

About you (optional)
Your Inspiration: What moment from HADO footage inspired your routine?
See an example

Example: I watched a player dodge two energy balls back-to-back and then throw immediately after. The combination of defense and attack in one motion was exactly what I wanted to build my routine around.

Hint: Be specific. Describe one moment, one movement, one player action.

Your Structure: Opening, middle and close in one sentence each
See an example

Opening: I introduce HADO and take my position on the court.

Middle: Three movement sequences (a dodge, a throw and a shield) building in intensity.

Close: The whole squad holds a final stance together for three counts, then drops.

Your Impact: What do you want someone watching to feel or think?
See an example

Example: I want them to think, "I had no idea HADO was that athletic." I want them to feel like they just watched a real sport for the first time.

Hint: Think about the person who has never heard of HADO.
