Accessibility

We want every student, teacher and family to be able to use this site. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we've done

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Pages use clear headings and landmarks, and images have text descriptions or are marked as decoration.
  • The intro video can be skipped (or closed with Escape), has captions, and doesn't play at all if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Videos with speech have captions: the intro (always shown), the Track 1 commentary (turn them on with the CC button), and the Track 2 example, which has captions built into the picture. The Track 4 videos are music only, with no speech.
  • The Track 4 warm-up video has a step-by-step text version under the player.
  • The example deck on Track 3 can be read as text, slide by slide.
  • Text and controls meet WCAG contrast levels.
  • You can stop the looping animations with “Pause animations” at the bottom of every page. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns them off for you.

Known limitations

  • The downloadable PDFs are designed for printing. The worksheet PDFs and the Track 3 example deck aren't fully tagged for screen readers. The same worksheets can be filled in on each track page, and we can send an accessible version of any PDF on request.
  • The HADO AR Demo linked from Track 3 is a separate app that uses your camera and phone movement, and isn't covered by this statement.
